Callander Community Council was first established in 1976 under the chairmanship of Ian Williams. Over the years our membership has fluctuated, and we now have 12 community councillors from a maximum of 14 allowed. During our history we have facilitated the creation of a number of local plans, setting out Callander’s ambitions to develop and offer an attractive place for our citizens to live. Through our relationship with Airtricity (Doune Windfarm), we have been able to disburse grant funds to a wide variety of local organisations and individuals to help them meet their goals. Currently we are actively involved with Stirling Council over how the Stirling and Clackmannan City Deal funds can be used for the benefit of Callander, as well as looking at how St Kessogs can be redeveloped for the good of our community. We are also in the early, investigatory stages of developing an ambitious tourist development project, which if successful could increase the number of visitors Callander welcomes.
