Inveruglas

Inveruglas is 3.5 miles north of Tarbet on a stretch of very tricky winding road by the loch. Here you will find a large car park on the shore of the loch where the views over Loch Lomond to Ben Lomond are excellent. A wooded rocky mound behind the car park offers even better views. Just south of Inveruglas is a power station driven by water fed from Loch Sloy 900ft above in the hills behind Ben Vorlich. The massive pipes carrying the water down the hillside are well viewed from the car park. Loch Sloy was once the gathering place of the Clan MacFarlane and 'Loch Sloy' was their war-cry.

In the bay is Inveruglas island upon which lie the remains of a castle, once the stronghold of the MacFarlanes, this is one of the many castles in Scotland which Cromwell burned to the ground.

For walkers, the car park is a popular starting point for the walk up via Coiregrogain to Ben Vane or Ben Vorlich. The views from both of these walks are worth every bit of pain incurred in the climb up there!
