Music and Drama
- Callander Amateur Operatic Society (CAOS)
CAOS presents a stage musical annually, usually in March. The group is made up of people of all ages who like to perform on stage, whether singing, acting, dancing (or sometimes, just standing about). New members are always welcome and if you would like the opportunity of being involved with this long established and successful team of like-minded enthusiasts, then please come along to our rehearsals. No particular skills are required; you don’t have to be able to read music, although some singing ability would definitely be useful. Previous experience of either acting or performing is not an entry requirement; those skills can be developed through experience. What we do know is that when you come along, you'll be in the company of many others who didn't know what to expect when they decided to "give it a go".
Rehearsals start on the first Monday in September and take place in McLaren High School, every Monday thereafter, running from 7.30 pm to 10 pm.

- Callander Brass Band
Callander Brass is a band with over 30 members currently, but always happy to welcome more. We feature two sections, the main band which performs regularly at events, concerts and competitions and the training band which is focused on developing the playing technique and enjoyment of less experienced instrumentalists. We have instruments and tutors ready and available at any time and are constantly open to either beginners wanting to learn, or experienced players wanting to play.
Rehearsals take place in Callander Primary School on Thursday evenings during school term time - training band from 6:30 to 7:30pm followed by main band from 7:30 to 9:30pm.

- Callander and District Pipe Band
Callander and District Pipe Band has been performing for and entertaining locals and visitors alike since it was first formed, as a home guard band, in 1941. Th e band play at various Games, Fetes and functions in the surrounding area and can also be heard playing in Ancaster Square through the summer months. One of the most important functions of the band is to teach new members how to play and for more experienced members to pass on the skills and knowledge which, with practice, are necessary to improve playing through time. Practices are weekly in the Masonic Hall, Craigard Road, Callander on Monday evenings from 7.00pm and interested learners of all ages and abilities are welcome. Pipes or Drums can be taken up at any age but we recommend a minimum age of 8 to ensure hands are big enough to cover the holes on a practice chanter. The Band are recruiting so if you already play the Pipes or Drums or would like to learn then why not get in touch!
