51st Highland Division To Be Remembered at War Memorial on 12th June
On Friday 12th June 2020 at 9.45 am there will be a ceremony at the War Memorial in Ancaster Square to remember the members of the 51st Highland Division who were taken prisoners after the surrender of the Division at the Battle of St Valery on 12 June 1940. After the Battle the defeated members, alongside other British Troops, were forced by Nazi forces on a death march to slave labour camps across Poland and Germany not seeing release until after the end of the war in 1945. The ceremony will be attended by the Chair of the British Legion, Minister of the Church of Scotland, a Piper and Bugler.
